This site is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. No advertising, no cross-site tracking, no cookies requiring consent. Data controller contact: hello@gamedevsalary.com.

Hosting

The site is served by Netlify, Inc. (USA). When you access the site, Netlify processes technical connection data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) in server logs as required to deliver the site (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in operating the website). Analytics

We use a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics on our own European server. Plausible uses no cookies and stores no persistent identifiers; IP addresses are not retained. We see aggregate page views and interaction events only (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in understanding site usage).

Salary submissions

Submitting a salary report is anonymous by design. We store the data you enter: role, region, experience, seniority, salary, currency, and optionally company size, work arrangement, and a comment. We do not store your name, and we do not link submissions to analytics data. Submissions are published only in aggregate (minimum bucket sizes apply — see the methodology).

Optional email: if you choose to provide an email address with your submission, we store it solely to be able to contact you about your submission or notify you about survey updates (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — consent). It is never published, never shared, and you can request deletion at any time.

Spam protection

The submission form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. When you submit, Cloudflare, Inc. processes technical data (IP address, browser characteristics) to distinguish humans from bots (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in preventing abuse). See Cloudflare's privacy policy. We additionally apply short-term IP-based rate limiting to the submission endpoint; these IPs are held in memory only and are not persisted.

Data storage

Submission data is stored in a database hosted by Supabase. Local display preferences (selected role, region, etc.) are stored in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device.

Geolocation

On your first visit, the site may request your approximate country from ipapi.co to preselect your region in the chart. Only the country-level result is used, nothing is stored server-side, and a manual selection always overrides it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, and erase personal data concerning you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability (Art. 15–21 GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). Contact for all requests: hello@gamedevsalary.com. Note that anonymous salary submissions usually cannot be attributed to you, and therefore may be technically impossible to locate or delete individually.
